Description:

These sessions are bookable for groups (20 – 30 people) to “Come and Try” paddling at Aldershot Lido. During these sessions participants will typically be spit into three groups and rotated through three different crafts: Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Boards, Open Canoes and Kayaks. We aim to provide at least 20 minutes paddling time on each type of craft. The lido is a fantastic venue for trying the sport for the first time, improving skills and having fun.

Before the Session

  • These sessions have a £200 minimum booking fee which covers up to 20 participants and must be paid immediately on booking.
  • Extra participants can be booked at a cost of £10 each, to be paid upon on confirmation of numbers.
  • Please fill in a group form (pdf version) (word version) before your session and send this to [email protected], this is so we have an idea how many volunteers would be required to run your session based on the ages and needs of your group as well as have your emergency contact information up front.

At the Session

  • Arrive 5-10 mins before the start time
  • Please wait at the entrance gate to the Lido and do not enter the venue until instructed to do so by a BVCC volunteer (you will be let in at or shortly before 7 pm)
  • Please ensure you have a list of participants and make volunteers aware of any individual needs.
  • Ideally participants should arrive dressed and ready to get on the water, as this will save time at the start of the session and help us get you on the water sooner.
  • Each participant will be provided with the necessary safety equipment. This needs to be correctly fitted, and checked by one of our volunteers before the sessions can start.
  • Participants may only enter the water when a volunteer in hi-vis standing on the side has said it is safe to do so.
  • Ensure good behaviour from all members of your group.  Volunteers can stop individual participants from continuing or stop the whole session at their discretion.
  • Should participants capsize / fall out of their boats then they should stay with their boat and await assistance from one of our volunteers. We want these session to be fun, but for safety reasons we cannot have people swimming around the pool after capsizing.

Sessions are subject to the lido being operational and the availability of our volunteers, if a session is not safely viability we will endeavour to rebook but this can not be guaranteed.
